Die vom Klavier dominierte Post-Rock-Band We Stood Like Kings widmet sich auf neue Weise der düsteren, zeitlosen Geschichte der Holzmarionette Pinocchio. Nachdem sie für ihre Live-Soundtracks zu Kult-Stummfilmen wie Koyaanisqatsi und Berlin: Die Sinfonie der Großstadt von der Kritik gefeiert wurden, haben sich die belgischen Post-Rocker „We Stood Like Kings“ als Pioniere ihres Genres etabliert; in den letzten 15 Jahren absolvierten sie mehr als 400 Auftritte in 20 europäischen Ländern. Die Band bewegt sich an der Schnittstelle von Post-Rock, Post-Metal, Neoklassik und Progressive Rock und hebt sich durch den ausgeprägten Einsatz des Klaviers von der breiten Alternative-Musikszene ab. Mit ihrem neuesten cineastischen Projekt Pinocchio Revisited greift das Instrumental-Quartett die zeitlose Entwicklungsgeschichte der Holzmarionette Pinocchio auf und beleuchtet sie durch ein düsteres Prisma aus Verrat, Manipulation und Machtspielen. Damit stellt das aktuelle Studioalbum Pinocchio das bislang ambitionierteste Werk der Band dar. Auf der großen Leinwand entfalten sich atemberaubende Schwarz-Weiß- und Farbzeichnungen des belgischen Illustrators Carll Cneut, die vom Studio Cartoonbase vollständig animiert wurden. Pinocchio Revisited bietet ein immersives audiovisuelles Erlebnis, das zwei Medien zu einer gemeinsamen emotionalen Sprache vereint. Das neue Projekt von We Stood Like Kings wechselt nahtlos zwischen zartem Minimalismus und explosiven Crescendos und zeugt erneut von einer Band, die sich weigert, in Vorhersehbarkeit zu verharren.

Piano-driven post-rockers We Stood Like Kings revisit the dark timeless tale of the wooden marionette Pinocchio Having earned critical acclaim for their live soundtracks to cult silent films like Koyaanisqatsi and Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, piano-driven post-rockers We Stood Like Kings from Belgium have cemented their place as pioneers in the genre, performing over 400 times across 20 European countries over the last 15 years. We Stood Like Kings navigate the confluence of post-rock, post-metal, neoclassical music and progressive rock, standing out in the broad alternative music scene with their extensive use of the piano. On their latest cinematic endeavor Pinocchio Revisited, the 4-piece instrumental band echoes the timeless initiatory tale of the wooden marionette Pinocchio through a dark lens of betrayal, manipulation and power play. Hence, the band’s latest studio release Pinocchio marks their boldest repertoire to date. On the big screen unfold stunning black-and-white and colored drawings from Belgian illustrator Carll Cneut, fully animated by Cartoonbase Studio. Pinocchio Revisited offers an immersive audiovisual experience, bridging two mediums into a shared emotional language. Shifting seamlessly between delicate minimalism and explosive crescendos, this new project presented by We Stood Like Kings is once again the work of a band who refuses to settle into predictability.
